Hi 👋, I am Chinmaya Shankar

I am an entrepreneur and a generalist with a love for building digital/internet businesses. I love talking about building and growing digital/internet businesses, primarily SaaS (Product & Growth).

Currently building digital businesses and helping other startups grow via BigDeal Ventures.

Previously co-founded - RevTap.ai (Shutdown 2021), EngageSense (Shutdown), AppsMonk (Acquihired), TapMyAds (Took exit), ZwitterHost(Acquired).

A little bit about me:

I am more of a generalist with a great passion for building products or digital businesses. Over the past 12 years, I have worked across different industries and domains ranging from building SaaS products to marketing, sales, etc.

Just to summarise my journey,

📲 I started as a mobile web publisher back in 2007, scaled the publications to 100K+ unique visitors a day, and later sold it to another publisher after a few years of making money through ads 😅.
👨🏻‍💻 Worked as a freelance developer till 2012. Good old days when it made me clear that I don't want to pursue my career as a developer!
👨🏻‍💻 Helped build AdTwirl, a German mobile ad network, back in 2010.
👀 Co-founded TapMyAds, a mobile ad network, bootstrapped and profitable.
💸 Founded AppsMonk - a mobile marketing automation platform. Later got acqui-hired by one of the customers.
💰 Headed Growth for a brief amount of time at GrowthRabbit, a growth marketing agency, UK.
🎵 I am also a classically trained singer and percussion artist and have performed in over 500 stage shows/concerts.

🧟‍♂️ My last adventure has been building RevTap.ai - an e-commerce business intelligence built for Shopify in 2019, backed by a reputed VC from the UK. Decided to pause the operations on March 2021 (more stories on this one soon).

I am always curious, open to learning and exploring new things, and more importantly, enjoy the process of building different internet businesses.

I can say my strengths are crafting product strategies (build, GTM, early stage), PLG, marketing, and process automations.
